TAFCOP Portal (Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection) is an official digital service launched by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India.

Its primary purpose is to help mobile subscribers check how many SIM cards are issued using their name and to detect any unauthorized or fraudulent mobile connections linked to their identity.

In today’s digital era, where mobile numbers are used for banking, Aadhaar verification, UPI, and essential communication, identity misuse has become a major concern. Fraudsters often take SIM cards using someone else’s documents, leading to serious risks like financial fraud, WhatsApp scams, or illegal activities done under an innocent person’s name.

Check Your Mobile Connections linked to Your Aadhaar on the TAFCOP portal

The TAFCOP portal allows Users can instantly see how many SIM cards are issued using their Aadhaar number. This is usefull because many frauds happen when someone else gets a SIM using your ID.

Step 1: Open Web browser

Start by opening any browser on your mobile or laptop —such as Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, etc.

Step 2: Visit the official TAFCOP Portal

In the address bar, type: https://sancharsaathi.gov.in, This is the main official portal of the Department of Telecommunications.

Step 3: Enter your mobile number

  • Locate the Mobile Number Field: Once the website opens, find the option and click on “Know Mobile Connections in your name”.
  • Enter Mobile Number: A box will appear asking for your 10-digit mobile number. Enter the mobile number that you currently use, because the OTP will be sent to this number for verification.

Step 4: Request OTP

  • Request OTP: After entering your number, click on “Request OTP”. This step is done to confirm your identity and ensure security.
  • Check your phone for OTP: You will receive a 6-digit OTP (One-Time Password) on the same number you entered. Open your SMS inbox and copy the OTP.
  • Enter the OTP on the website: Type the OTP in the box shown on the screen. This login method ensures that only the real owner of the number can check the connections. After entering OTP, click “Validate“.

Step 5: View your registered mobile connections

After OTP verification, TAFCOP will show:

  • All mobile numbers registered under your name
  • Operator details (Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL)
  • Activation dates
  • Any suspicious or old numbers still active

This list shows every SIM card issued using your Aadhaar.

Step 6: Report or block unwanted numbers

Select the suspicious numbers and click:

  • “Not My Number”
  • “Request for Deactivation”

Your complaint will be submitted to the telecom operator for investigation. They may deactivate the number or contact you for further verification.

Step 7: Check TAFCOP Portal regularly

It is recommended to check TAFCOP every 3–4 months because:

  • It helps prevent identity theft
  • You can catch unauthorized SIMs early
  • You stay safe from mobile-based fraud
  • Your digital identity remains protected

Sanchar Saathi is an official initiative by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to empower citizens and protect them from mobile-related fraud. It is a unified platform that brings important telecom security services under one roof.

Main features of Sanchar Saathi

  • Block Lost or Stolen Mobile Phones: If your phone is lost or stolen, you can block its IMEI number immediately. Once blocked, your phone will stop working on all mobile networks in India. This prevents misuse, data theft, or unauthorized access.
  • Prevent IMEI-based Fraud: If someone tries to change the SIM or use your phone illegally, CEIR stops the device from connecting to any telecom network.
  • Unblock When Phone is Recovered: If your lost phone is found, you can submit a request to unblock the IMEI and make it functional again.
  • Check Mobile Connections Registered Under Your Name: Users can instantly see how many SIM cards are issued using their Aadhaar/PAN. This is useful because many frauds happen when someone else gets a SIM using your ID.
  • Identify Unknown or Suspicious Numbers: If you find a mobile number linked to your identity that you never used, it is a sign of misuse.
  • Prevent SIM Fraud and Identity Theft: TAFCOP helps ensure that no one can use your identity to perform illegal activities using a SIM card.
  • Report Fraudulent SMS: If you receive suspicious SMS with malicious links, you can report them through Chakshu.

How Many SIMs Can One Person Have?

  • Maximum 9 SIMs can be issued on one person’s name. (Except in J&K, Assam, and Northeast — where limit is 6 SIMs.)
  • If count exceeds limit You receive an alert from TAFCOP.
  • If a SIM is incorrectly linked. You can instantly mark it as “Not My Number”.
